About Virginia Mist
Virginia Mist, also known as Jet Mist or American Black, is a premier natural stone primarily quarried from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, USA. While often compared to the aesthetic of black marble due to its deep charcoal-to-black background and delicate, snowy-white "misting," it is geologically a granite or gabbro. This composition grants it exceptional density and a low absorption rate, making it far more resistant to staining, scratching, and heat than traditional marble. Its understated elegance makes it a staple for high-traffic surfaces. Notably, this enduring material was selected for the granite-paved plaza at the National September 11 Memorial in New York City.
