Design Spotlight: We3 Dwellings
Over 30+ years in the construction industry, We3 Dwellings approaches design/build projects in a forward-thinking and contemporary manner. The firm is the creative collaboration of L&D Construction and JLW Design. With three design-driven dreamers, two successful partnerships, and one vision, We3 Dwellings strives to innovate — and slightly disturb — design in the housing industry.
1. What sparked your interest in interior design?
For all three of us, it’s the transformation of a space that breathes life into it and allows it to shine. For me (Christina), I’ve always been interested in interior design. As a child I was constantly rearranging my room and would have chosen a new bed comforter over new clothes any day. My room, then and now, is my comfort and sanctuary — a place that feels calm and peaceful. We want that for all of our clients, and that’s our ultimate goal when designing.

2. What was your first big project?
Our first big project as We3 Dwellings was a historic client flip near Classen and 39th Street. We had worked together many times before, but this was the first project where we all came together to create the design of the home in its entirety and had majority control over the design. Most of our work is customized to our clients.
3. What is your favorite type of space to design?
Right now, we’re working on our first spec home and loving it! We enjoy creating cohesion across every space, so designing an entire home — rather than one room at a time — feels incredibly rewarding.

4. Is there a natural stone or Quartz material of ours that you’re dying to use?
We each might have a different opinion on that, but I’d say a really beautiful Arabescato for natural stone, and either Nightfall Honed or Terrazzo Cinder Honed for MetroQuartz®. We’re drawn to more unexpected, solid surfaces right now.
5. What are your tips for achieving a peaceful environment?
Everyone’s idea of “peace” is different. Look inward and find what aesthetic truly resonates with you, instead of following trends. When you close your eyes and picture calm — what do you see? If it’s the beach, with crashing waves and warm wind, lean toward soft, organic materials and warm light tones. If it’s the mountains, embrace geometric forms, structure, and natural textures that evoke strength and adventure.

6. How do you help clients choose materials?
We always start with the structural design of the home. You purchased it for a reason — perhaps the interior style, exterior architecture, or both. From there, we pinpoint what elements you loved most and draw inspiration from them for the project. When it’s time to select materials, we narrow options to just a few to avoid overwhelming the senses, and we only recommend quality, well-constructed materials that will stand the test of time.
