Stone & Tile Trend Predictions for 2022

STONE TRENDS: Marble — Classic + Bold
One of the most popular trends of 2021 was the renewed love for Natural Stone. It’s official: stone slabs are here to stay as a natural, timeless material that has been used for centuries. In particular, marble is elegant and sophisticated, making it a perfect choice for bathrooms, kitchens, and other spaces where design longevity is desired.
A duo that never goes out of style — Calacatta and Carrara marble. Both feature milky white backgrounds, thick grey veining, and that unmistakable luxe appeal.

Bold, heavily veined marbles are also making their mark in design. Kilimanjaro marble features rich, fluid veins that evoke the motion of a river. Complementing both dark and light neutrals, this striking stone is ideal for residential or commercial spaces where distinctive design and a touch of drama are desired. You can never have too much marble!

While marble is a terrific natural stone, there are also stunning marble alternatives. One of the most popular options is engineered stone. Quartz is durable, stain-resistant, and available in large formats — ideal for countertops, walls, and floors. Architectural Surfaces offers two quartz lines: MetroQuartz® and PentalQuartz®.

TILE TRENDS: Color
There’s a reason you’re seeing more colorful tile—it’s livable, joyful, and surprisingly easy to integrate. We predict greens and dark blues will continue to trend into 2022. Both pair beautifully with neutrals and help ground brighter palettes. Green and blue shades evoke calm, making them natural choices for today’s interiors.

Lines with green options: Camp, Genesi 26, Kromatika, Reality, Switch, and Prism.

Large Format Tiles + Terrazzo
Large-format tiles are a must for 2022—especially in terrazzo patterns. It’s easy to see why: terrazzo has been beloved since 1945 and continues to bring character to modern interiors. Add edge to your design with our Parade or Stelvio collections.

Texture
This isn’t a new trend, but with today’s advanced printing technologies, textured and three-dimensional finishes are more refined than ever. These materials bring depth and tactility to spaces—residential or commercial—while remaining durable and low-maintenance.
Textured options include: Bits, Castlestone & More (Muretto), Nux, and Glitch.

Whether you’re refreshing your home or planning a new business space, it’s always worth staying ahead of design trends. Stay tuned as we continue to share more insights into Natural Stone, Quartz, and Tile.
