About Angola Black
Angola Black is a premium granite extracted from the Lubango region of Angola. Its background ranges from deep charcoal to midnight black. Geologically, it's an anorthosite dating to the Precambrian period — a medium-grained stone packed with labradorite and feldspar crystals. Those inclusions produce a crystalline flicker when light hits the surface, giving it a faint metallic quality against the dark base.
The stone is exceptionally hard with low porosity, which makes it practical for high-traffic flooring, kitchen countertops, and exterior cladding. It also holds up well under extreme temperatures and freeze-thaw cycles.
In the trade, it goes by another name too: Black Mingue. Both labels refer to the same material, widely used in architectural and residential projects around the world.
