About Calacatta

Calacatta marble is a premier natural stone primarily quarried in the Carrara region of Italy. Distinguished by its luminous, cool white background and dramatic, thick grey or gold veining, it is often considered the pinnacle of luxury in interior design. Unlike its close relative, Carrara marble, which features more linear and cloudy patterns, Calacatta offers a bold, unstructured aesthetic that is highly prized for book-matching. This rare stone has a deep historical connection to high art, notably serving as a preferred medium for masters like Michelangelo. Interestingly, its name is derived from the Greek word meaning to gleam and sparkle.
