Marble

Arabescato Orobico closeup Close Up

Arabescato Orobico is a prestigious Italian marble quarried for over a century in the Brembana Valley of Northern Italy. This stone is celebrated for its dramatic, sweeping movement and a sophisticated palette featuring a deep grey-to-brown background. Its complex texture is defined by overlapping waves of cream, charcoal, and occasional golden veins, creating an artistic, painterly appearance. As a dense, very fine-grained marble, it is highly prized for its ability to take a mirror-like polish, which intensifies its intricate fossil structures. Interestingly, while most Arabescato varieties are known for white backgrounds, the Orobico’s unique dark coloration and sinuous patterns have drawn comparisons to the ornate guilloche decorations found in Islamic art.
