Frequently Asked Questions about PentalQuartz
PentalQuartz® combines the timeless beauty of natural stone with superior strength and durability. Engineered for easy care, this surface requires little maintenance, is versatile and long-lasting, all while providing infinite design possibilities. It is ideal for nearly any application; from kitchen countertops, backsplashes and bathroom vanities, to shower walls, bar tops and tub surrounds.
Depending on the color, PentalQuarz is made from approximately 90–93% natural quartz crystals, along with resins and polymer binders.
This combination is then poured into a mold, compressed and then heated to produce a solid surface material that is extremely robust, non-porous, and scratch-resistant.
PentalQuartz requires very little maintenance. For daily cleaning, simply wipe your surface with any commonly available multi-purpose cleaner or mild detergent, then rinse off with clean water. The surface should be cleaned on a regular basis to maintain its beauty. You can find more detailed care and maintenance instructions in our online guide
It is not recommended to put hot pots or dishes directly on a quartz surface. Quartz surfacing is resistant to high levels of heat, however trivets or potholders should be used so as to avoid discoloration of the resin materials that bind the quartz product.
Quartz countertops are non-porous making them highly stain resistant. However, it’s important to note that quartz is not completely impervious. If left on the surface for an extended period, certain substances (including strong acids, food dyes or harsh chemicals) can potentially cause staining.
PentalQuartz is offered in several finishes including polished, honed, and satin. Just as each finish has a different look, they also have slightly different characteristics. Honed or Satin finish colors offer the soft appearance of a lower sheen compared to the Polished finish. The Honed and Satin finishes require slightly more maintenance. Since the honed or satin finish actually creates more surface area to the material, it has the potential to show more signs of living from daily use. Learn more on how to care for Honed surfaces in our PQ Care & Maintenance guide.
